My job
is to embody,
amplify
and even broadcast
someone else’s truth,
which is
almost
impossible to do,
ethically.
To make
human communication
your profession
is hazardous
It requires a kind of
moral-interpersonal
perfectionism.
Most people
will never even understand
those words
by themselves,
let alone in a sentence.
And
if you do
You’re likely too tortured
to contribute to the field,
meaningfully.
To commit oneself to service
in the court of public opinion
requires incredible
intellectual and emotional
work
and mental resilience
to maintain and enjoy.
But
those who excel
for any amount of time
can do little else, quite as well
for money.
For others, still
It seems like
their natural way
of existing
in the world.
They are beacons
of authenticity or
transparency or
honesty or all three
faces of what
most call “small” t
truth.
You may meet them in an instant
Yet in a lifetime
never learn them.
And I
have been so lucky.
