I’ve been writing poetry and short stories for as long as I can remember. Somewhere along the way, I allowed myself to be convinced that pursuing a career in the arts was not a viable option for my life, which I still believe was a grave mistake, to this day—not because I am so confident in my artistry—but because I am now confident in my understanding of the value of art to society and to myself, as an individual.
